Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at La Citadelle, I was drawn to its historic charm and culinary offerings. Nestled within the citadel, the hotel boasts breathtaking views over the river, which become even more enchanting at sunset, despite a few pesky insects joining the experience. We chose to dine at the hotel's French cuisine restaurant, where the ambiance was both refined and inviting. The staff were exceptionally attentive, ensuring our dining experience was seamless, although I did notice some disorganization during breakfast service. The highlight of our meal was the innovative use of local flavors that shone through each dish. From the delicate presentation to the expertly crafted flavors, it was clear that the chefs take pride in their culinary creations. We dined with views of the pool, creating a relaxing backdrop to an enjoyable evening. I appreciated the establishment’s proximity to the town, allowing for easy exploration, particularly on market days. La Citadelle offers a combination of historical intrigue and a vibrant culinary scene, making it a worthwhile destination for food enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
